    you seem to be able to get rubber (SJS cycles) or alu (ebay etc)

    are there any pro's or cons of using and is any material better
    (*I'd prefer rubber – and it's just so my and gf bike use same tube type)

    Pick what you like, I don't see why it would make much difference. I've only used rubber and they are fine.

    I presume you mean Schrader to presta? – otherwise it's a drill you need 🙂

    anyway, I don't bother using anything – it doesn't cause any issues

    Conti presta tubes have a little recess on the retaining nut that fits neatly in to a schrader hole….
