When you press out / in a set of pivot bearings on a swing arm, homebrew style, is it OK to work with the bolt thread right the way though the swing arm? So you apply torque to press the right hand bearing out, say, and you'll be pulling against the washers all the way over on the outside of the left hand bearing? Was wondering if this was a bad idea as it will compress the whole swingarm.

If it isn't the way it's done, and you just put the bolt through one hole at a time, what do people use to put up against the bearing they are pressing out? I seem to have nothing to hand to improvise in the workshop.

Sry if the above doesn't make sense, I can post a picture later tonight to make it clearer. Thanks for any advice.

I can't easily visualise it but you should be OK as long as you're not pinching the swing arm together with the bolt
