    Positives and negatives?

Got a frame that I'm considering having done, if anyone has any pictures of their powder coated bikes then post away!

    Thanks in advance

I had my 456 done in black.

Pros: it was cheap (£25 including prep) and has been pretty robust.
Cons: finish is 'adequate' – if I was a bike tart (I'm not) I'd say it was a bit of a flat, uninspiring finish.

Check out Windridge coatings they were at Cycleshow, very impressive.

Here's one I had done last week, £30 all in and another £4 for the stickers, really pleased with it.
Pros: hard wearing and loads of colours to choose from
Cons: Stickers rather than lacquered on graphics

    Windridge's handiwork….

Pretty good finish, but spend an age cutting back the paint on bearing surfaces so should probably have spent more time beforehand.

Both look very good guys, any idea of the weights Vs normal paints? I guess it would depend on the amount of layers though..

I'm in the Midlands, near Lichfield/Burton area. I've found somewhere that can do it though, and having seen some of my mates frames that they've done, they look pretty good. £25 too.

Personally I'd post it to Triple S, they're a motorbike specialist really but they made their name doing top end show motorbikes and streetfighters, so their finish is abolutely first class. They know the importance of protecting the threads- there's really no excuse for any professional to get this wrong tbh. Results can vary a lot, industrial coaters tend to give a thicker, less attractive finish than people who specialise in prettier work.

Thanks for the tip, but this place specialise in motorbike spraying as well. I gave them a call yesterday and the guy mentioned that they 'bung' any threaded area before work commences, with turn around usually under a week. Going to try and get over tommorow, see the colour charts and what not.

THIS PLACE seem to know what they're on about but I've never used them. You'll need the frame chemically stripped beforehand, there's a place in Tamworth called Enviro-Strip. The coaters above will lightly blast the frame to give a nice key for the powder. Blanking bearing pivots in essential with powder.

I had a frame coated at the place takisawa linked too they were great and would have stripped the frame for too if it wasnt already. They blanked the threads and pivots off for me and did a top job. Its just by spaghetti junction. And they had shed loads of colours all on little discs so you could actually see what it looked like and not a picture on some paper.

theres one down by the incinerator in sheffield, its an industrial place though, I had to strip my own paint and the coating came back with the odd run in it. Some clumsy BMX'er droped his bike on it int eh train though and his pedals gouged the finish, but they put it on so thick it didnt even reach the metal!

Looks as good now as it did then, not one for the bike tarts, but if its a winter bike i'd recomend them as the coating will last a lifetime!

i toyed with the idea of getting my trance done, and never did.

abigails trance is very pretty 🙂

could even "customise" the cable stops before getting it done, so it take full outers.
