avoid DHL via P2G, shocking service.

2 no shows for picking up parcel 2 days in a row, ended up taking to depot myself.

    Utter pants!

http://www.senditnow.com is the best. You don’t have to faff about with physical size and it’s Parcel Force in disguise so the service is actually pretty good. Seems about right on the money side too.

So, box it up and away you go…

Get a LARGE bike box from your friendly LBS – phone them up and reserve one if necesssary (before they dissemble them).

Take off wheels, and let the air out of the tyres.

Take the pedals off (so it’s narrower)

Take the bars off, and tape them to the fork lowers (stops them moving around.

Take the rear mech off, so it doesn’t get smashed around. Tape it to frame.

DPD have been impressing me lately, they actually turn up when they say they will which seems unique in the industry.

Halfords’ Apollo range comes in a pretty massive, very sturdy box and they’ve usually got loads kicking around, you’d get a DH bike in one of those very easily.
