So I’m looking at getting a pair of Salsa Cowchippers from Jenson USA and I was wondering if I should expect any extra charges etc on import?
The reason from buy from the US is that nowhere in the UK has them.

You’ll have to pay tax, I believe. In all my experience the express delivery companies always get that tax as they collect it on behalf of the US IRS. You’ll have to pay them to get your parcel. US Postal Service (USPS, not UPS..) usually just get handed over to local post for delivery so I have never paid import tax when USPS are used.

This is to France, though so YMMV as I’m not au fait with ParcelFarce and the likes.

If you have a friend/relative in the US get it shipped to them then shipped on as a gift.

No US friends unfortunately. It would be coming via UPS in this instance.

Then fairly confident they’ll roll up with your parcel and a bill you’ll need to pay before they’ll give you it.

Have a look here but from memory it’s something between 15% and 20% generally. scrub that, that’s to France, probably different to the UK
