Further to the “what do you wish you could do on a bike” thread where many people have said “tabletops and whips” myself included, can you post pictures of people on bikes doing tabletops/whips? Preferably all-mountain bikes off natural features (that’s what does it for me) but anything’s good.

Not a pic, and not really natural, but if you haven’t seen it before it’s worth watching

One I took. Tables are really difficult on an mtb.

Nice moto-down there davidtaylforth and some good flat tables. I have real trouble taking bmx stuff I used to be able to do and applying it to mtbs. The bike is so big and the jumps tend to be less poppy. I determined to get it though.

Thanks, that last one of the superman is very nice but is not a tabletop or a whip. Sweet move though! The one at Woburn above I really like, because it appears to be an improvised launch off an undulation in the trail rather than off a “jump” as such. And in the wet too.

The one of Voreis is sweet too. 6″ off the ground!

I’ve often wondered whether yoghurt pots on Holmbury could be resculpted a bit for more launch potential, but I doubt the authorities in the area would be keen.

That first video has some great riding. Pitty it’s ruined by the start that shows them all like complete plebs!

ok so it’s a BMX and it’s not ‘natural’ terrain, but this is a scrub!

not an all-mountain bike and not natural terrain, but I was pleased with these attempts during a cross race:

That is really quite considerable air on a 700c bike!

Few more (not mine) from a bmx forum I visit. When it comes to pure jumping style, bmx trumps mtb every time imo!

also not really tabletop/whip related but this vid is great:

leggyblonde, those pictures are worthy of http://www.bigringriding.com/

Night time cross racing gnarly big ringing air awesomeness with face paint and bright lycra? What’s not to love?

Leggy, love them pics. Must be tricky landing them on a cross bike as well 😀

Aw, thanks guys! It concentrated the mind landing in the dark, on tubs with the saddle up and a CX race heart rate. I didn’t fancy crashing much in front of a few hundred spectators and loads of photogs!

Whips? And no pics of TV yet? Tsk…

Although doing a google image search for “Vanderham” was more interesting (in a very pneumatic kinda way) than I initially expected! 😆 (good job I sit with my back to the wall..)

    BIG cancan!

Daryl Brown (i think?) at bike radar fs-mtb comp last year.

Cancans are good (but not whips or tabletops!).

The berm/wallride is great though I can’t make out, did you hit the wall, or is your wheel just above it?

Daryl Brown was the most stylish rider at that King of Dirt comp at Bike Radar, massively tweaking everything

Ah, now, see I initally wrote whip but then thought about it too much and edited my post. My reasoning was that in my mind a whip has the head tube vertical, front wheel pointing in direction of travel and the back end swung around.

A scrub on the other hand tends to have the head tube horizontal, front wheel parallel with the ground and the back end swung away from or towards the ground.

As such it could maybe be a whip or a scrub… probably more correctly its an off-axis whip…

Like I said I thought about it too much…
