More alcohol than you think you'll drink (variety of, I favour re wine, cider, lager and rum)
more cigarettes than you normally smoke (if you smoke)
junk food (crisps, chocs, sweets)
a hat
boots
trainers
a fold up chair
pot noodle!!
torch
pen and paper to write down names of acts you enjoyed but will never remember
spare phone/battery
anti histamines/ paracetamol
toilet paperthat should do you.

travel as light as you can manage
probably worth taking some alcohol and your prefferred illegals, but pretty much everything else will be on site
it will get cold at night so an extra jumper to what you expect
if you are considering taking a chair, perhaps you should consider staying at home

Earplugs for night time.
Nice thick self-inflating mat (alpkit, kathmandu, etc are cheaper than thermarest)
Bogroll and hand sanitiser because there's very little chance of finding a toilet with either.Posted 1 year ago # -
Babywipes, although festival showers are nowhere near as bad as festival toilets.
Babywipes, wipe your hands before touching anything thats going anywhere near your mouth.
Food wise, take an alcohol stove, gas cannisters are usual banned (including deoderant so take a roll on). And take/buy stuff like sausages (will last >24 hours if frozen in a coolbag with some ice packs), pasta sauce, pasta etc. Nothing more depressing than crap food.
Sunscreen
Good waterproofs (preferably a warm waterproof), I took a musto sailing one and its great, even in 30deg heat it breaths out the sweat, and at 11pm at night it was still warm.
Cheep/no electronics, you will lose your phone and your tent will be raided for your ipod etc.
Cheep tent, OXFAM etc pick them up afterwards to send to disasters, gazebo's will be nicked at the first hint of rain.

The definitive list would be:
two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a saltshaker half-full of cocaine, and a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers... Also, a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether, and two dozen amyls.

Really? Which festivals? I've been to a bunch of festivals over the years, and everyone has been using gas stoves.
Loo roll, and more warm coats / jumpers than you think you need. Those are the only things that I'd always forget.
Last one I went to, I took probably about £2000 of electronics gear (including 3 iPhones and a fancy camera). Fortunately almost all belonging to work. I wouldn't do that!

I went to IoW and Sonisphere this year, and I think I remember seeing that gas was banned at both. It's the idiots throwing them on fires on the last night.
tbh, I stopped bothering to take a stove - there are food stalls all over the place and while I like to open the tent door and have a cup of tea before getting up, that's more appealing with a nice view, not just the side of someone else's tent.

My festival experiences were always travelling light and generally sleeping where I passed out...sharing someone else's tent if they took pity on me!
Always ok though as long as I had money for food etc.

Sorry, but I do.
Children with terminal diseases are infinitely more depressing than an overpriced falaffel. What about a puppy with sticks pushed in its eyes to blind it. Surely the thought that someone could even think of such a thing is more depressing than a bad burger?
