    I'm just interested to know what the general rule of thumb is for steerer tube spacers. 5mm, 10mm, 20mm?

    Which bike?

    Tandem 40mm but a fairly flat stem, solo 15 mm but a stem with rise. Commuter 30 mm and a high rise stem.

    I like high bars but all 3 bikes have different shaped bars and different length headtubes – the actual grip height relative to the seat is about the same

    Currently 15mm, 5 below, 10mm above on MTB. Road bike similar height, but all under stem to raise it up slightly.

    15 under and 15 over the stem on the mtb, 20 below and 0 over on the road bike. Just 30 below on the hardtail, but still experimenting there…
