……. Because they’re butt ugly and you have no idea what possessed the owners to buy them. Can you add any to this list?

    Renault Clio Estate
    Renault Clio Saloon
    Renault Megane saloon
    Ford Focus Saloon
(Why turn a decent hatch in to a saloon?)
Actually staying on the Saloon hating, old school this time:
    Ford Orion
    Vauxhall Nova Saloon

As a matter of interest, d’you reckon you’d get a bike in, wheel/s out, would you think?

If you overtake one of those Renaults that CFH mentioned, do you pass wind?

If its based on the EUCD platform like the Mazda 3 and the S40 then probably. I can get a DH bike with Dual crowns and 800mm bars in my S40 with the wheels off.

I pass a Nova saloon every day on my commute, going in the other direction. Utter crap, but fair play for keeping it going.

Come to the isle of wight where shit and old (or old and shit) cars come to live out their days.
Have seen most of the cars mentioned above (barring a Veyron), used to see a Renault Avantime regularly.

When was the last time ANYONE saw an Austin Princess / Ambassador on the road?

Don’t know about cars, but the Aprillia Futura was , IMHO, a stunning looking motorcycle of which I saw 4, 1 of which was mine.

ahh the Eastern version of Mercedes styling. You can kind of see what they were going for and tbh some of the current real Mercs are not much better:

If you go elsewhere in Europe you tend to see a lot more of the saloon versions of hatches. I remember going back to Ireland after a few years of not visiting and thinking I was seeing loads of really ugly new cars. Turns out saloons are an obsession there.

Yeah that was a good idea – combining the strengths of Alfa Romeo and Nissan:

That legendary Nissan styling and handling with equally legendary Alfa Romeo engineering and build quality. I wonder if someone got something transposed in an early memo..

My mate had a nova saloon, 1.2, only ever seen a couple of others, we did thousands of miles in it, was a funny little car, 4 speed box meant cruising was a bit revvy on long journeys, it had the original tyres on the back when it died (2005 ish), think it was an 87 model!

Same mate also had an m reg nissan sunny hatchback with a boot, dog.

    Smart roadster was a disaster.

Are you me? Ireland is full of saloons, cheaper insurance and snobbery reasons according to a mate.

Saw a granada scorpio 2 days ago I was stunned…

Haven’t seen much in the way of british leyland in a long time or rover 800s either.

Those audi mini town people carriers, you know the ones made from all aluminium which they made a huge loss on after r&d and all.

    Honda jazz,

Ooo no there seems to be a trend appearing.
