Time or length? Did a “short” 20 miles on Saturday. But that was Rangers & Telegraph Valley, up Llanberis to the top of Snowdon and back down Rangers.

An hour is a ride. If you mostly stand up to pedal it can feel like decent trip.
None of that chronic cardio for me these days

My usual circuit is 20 miles, I did 40 yesterday, but wanted 60, I started 2 hours later than planned, so time cut me off.

To me, long on the MTB is 100 miles plus.

moving time or door to door? We need a page long clarification for all these polls, I hate being inaccurate

15 miles for me, unless there’s exceptional circumstances (e.g. bazillions of climbing, proper social rides, riding with family).

    For me, anything i enjoy.

Little jolly with the boy yesterday (only just turned four), probably did less than 2 miles but every peddle was a giggle.

    for me

    15-20 miles / 2.5-4 hours = ‘a ride’
    10-15 mile / 1-2.5 hours = ‘hungover / can’t be arsed / crap weather ride’
    <1 hour = ‘quick blast’
    >4 hours = ‘an undertaking’ / ‘are we lost again ride’
greno / wharncliffe = ‘playing in the woods’

    I don’t understand the question?

A recovery ride is usually 1 hr.

A big ride is usually 5 hrs +

A general go out for a ride 2/3 hrs

If I’ve got my cycling gear on it’s a “ride”, if I’m wearing normal clothing it’s a journey, trip, commute ect.

80km yesterday for me – Afan valley cyclepath with the kids then 65km home over the mountains. Certainly felt big!

If I’ve got to pack a puncture repair kit and pump, it’s a ride. That happens if i could break down further than I’m prepared to walk. Therefore a ride is longer than a walk.

My last ride was 1hr 48mins
Strava says 105hrs/58 rides for the year for an average of 1hr 48mins ❗

My yardstick is 3,000 ft of climbing. Anything less and I don’t feel it’s enough.

Luckily I can manage that in less than 10 miles where I live, MTB obviously.

Last week went out 4 times; only 49 miles but did manage 12,000 ft – so ok.

ill be out on me bike tonight from about 6pm till dark, so a good 2 hours, but ill only clock 5 or 6 miles – half of that will be pushing up! does this not constitute as a ride?

does this not constitute as a ride?

At 5-6mi in 2 hrs, no, its taking your bike for a walk. 😆

usually about 15 minutes. The rest of the time is spent pushing back to the top again for another run.

Under one hour. Less than twenty-odd minutes, actually, cos it was only four <5 minute goes down a DH course. Two hours if you count the four pushes up the hill as well 😆

Sorry DH lads, that’s not a ‘ride’ that’s a ‘run’ lord knows why because it’s anything but, but they’re “downhill runs” a collection of them is a day or half-day.

“10 runs on my uplift day, stoked”

For me a short ride is an hour – usually between two immovable time slots when I have to be doing something else.

Anything over that is a ride.

Anything over 4 hours is a mission.

    Multi-day = epic.

    That’s not a ride, that’s a warm-up.

I did 15 hours riding/pushing for 12.5 of those hours on Saturday hopefully thats more than a warm up

Typical ride for me is 2hrs15, because 2hrs is what I can get away with saying I’m heading out for at the moment, and 15 minutes is how long I can push being within the 2hr bracket 😆
