Firstly – is the freehub serviceable?

Secondly how do you get the thing off?!

I thought it would just pull off once I’d taken off the axel nuts but it won’t budge. Have tried to hammer the axel out too but that won’t come out easily (don’t want to whack it just yet)

    Freehub is serviceable

Once lock nut and spacer is off

Pull and twist the freehub body and it comes off like a hope. M

Take the spring off an check its in good nick mind had snapped

Clean up ratchet ring and pawls

    Check bearings

    Rebuild.

take a photo – is it the same hub as fitted to a model B wheel set ? – ie the rebadged novatec ?

Try clamping freehub in a vice and useing the wheel as a lever to pull on – there is a seal in there as well. might be that the bearings have corroded to the axel- steel bearing races and alloy axel.

mines has only done a couple hundred miles on my TT bike so it was fairly clean in there.

Yeah it’s from a model B wheel set.

Will give the vice a try as you say.

    Thanks

I had to tap axel out with a hammer in the end.

The bearings had rusted onto axel as you suggested.

    Thanks trail rat.
