I’ve basketed rims and skewers, delivery is being offered at £20-40, presumably the website thinks I’ve ordered a bike.

I’ve emailed them but my memory is that they aren’t the most responsive firm around.

I’m bothered cos they is mega-bargins.

Only cost me £3.95 for a pair of rims. They were delivered on a Saturday!

How odd, if I delete either line, delivery reverts to £3.95.

Thankfully a pal lives in Sheffield to collect if nec.

    I’ve just tried the same.

    3.95 for Yodel
20 quid for a reputable delivery firm.

    Take your choice.

They are awfully cheap though. Decent rim?

    Decent rim?

I was thinking of getting a set to build some old hubs up into wheels but decided against it. It’s a 600g, 25mm rim, so it’s not going to win a weight weenie prize!

Yes, I was slightly quavering over the weight. But it’s only slightly more than a Flow Ex, so if it was as strong, I could live with it.

    540gm for the i25 no?

    £7.99 that’s bargaineous.

WTB’s website reckons 597g per rim for the ST i25s. Even so, for that price I got a pair a few months ago, they’ve built into strong, wide-ish wheels on cheap Novatec hubs. Can’t go wrong for the price.

I ordered a coupe of those 2 weeks ago. Yodel have lost them 🙄
PX have promised to send a couple more, but I’m not holding my breath!

So, good price on the rims – even with £3.95 delivery it’s under £20 for a couple of decent quality rims.

But, it’s Yodel. So there’s a 50/50 chance they’ll lose them, break them, or give them to a random person near your house.

Had the same when ordering a load of £1 bits

Might be based on weight if your ordering loads, but I doubt the website is that clever so probably a glitch

I got some of the i25 in 29er flavour a couple of months ago for that price. They must have loads of them! They weigh less than quoted… about 570 iirc.

Re postage, every item has a physical and volumetric weight in the system and it adds up the item values to spit out a number that plugs into the courier option tables. It’s usually pretty good but with 20,000 plus stock items there’s bound to be some doozies.

if you’re struggling with anything drop me a line simon.clark @the expected company address.

I have just bought a pr of rims from there. Three rims were £30 and delivery was £20 on top. Two rims were £20 and delivery was an extra £4….result…..some 26″ dh rims!

I’ve noticed this when trying to stock up on cheap rims.

Their pricing system gives with one hand (stupid low prices on some things) and takes with the other (odd postage formula), eh?

Only paid £4 delivery for a couple of rims and a tyre last week, unfortunately the tyre looked like it might struggle to hold air…

Yodel really is luck of the draw territory. Mine were ordered yesterday (3.95 postage), arrived this morning. Box didn’t even have the contents of a Planet X bin in it like normal.

As above with Yodel lottery! My second set (first lot lost) turned up 24 hours after dispatch.

They’re a very respectable 520g and 525g on my digital kitchen scales.

Bargainatious at £7.99 a pop. Should have ordered more for future spares!

Really? That’s a bonus given the width and general robustness. Now, anyone got any hub bargains?

Well Planet X did, but then the prices went right up again.

    Worth keep checking though.

Keep an eye on Novatecs on eBay.

I got a pair of 771/772 (same as Superstar Switch hubs) for a bargain basement £40 inc. all the adapters. They were new, but not in packaging from a wheelbuilder.

So £16 rims, £40 hubs, DB ACI spokes for £20, and some Bonty XR4 Team Issue tyres for £16 each. All in a pair of wheels with tyres for just over a ton 🙂

Well after that getting sorted, I got another email today from PX saying it’s got to be £20 cos they send rimes in a wheel box which commands that charge.

Glad I got in there for £3.95, the rims ARE 540gm.

Some 2.5 Rocket Rons @ CRC just now too, 550gm.

I paid £3.95 postage for two rims and a tyre. They came in a wheel box.

My replacement tyre in on the way as well now, you’ll be pleased to hear.

Built them up last night, and they’re good rims, especially for the price. Nice and straight, no burrs on the spoke holes, etc.

With Novatec hubs and DB spokes they’re about 1920g for the pair.
