Any recomendations on a decent place to stay in Ambleside at the end of March, not too expensive (£<40ish per night B&B), for a small group of middle aged bikers? Looking to stay within walking distance of the town, twin rooms (not the doubles everyone seems to offer) and some secure bike storage.

    Any advice greatfully received!

The YHA is right on the lake and is very nice by YHA standards. It has secure bike storage and a canteen if you're too lazy to go into town.

Sykside campsite, bottom of the Kirkstone pass they have very good bunk house rooms that can sleep from 2 to 8 people, they have a bar on site and do great food and breakfast aswell, they also own the pub next to the road that does B&B. I have not stayed there for a few years now and Im sure a google search will find it.Problably need to book ASAP as thats lead up to Easter

The YHA at Ambleside is very very good, the lake view from the rooms is priceless, the bar (yes it has one!) is great for a pre drink before going into town which is only a few minutes walk, highly recommended.

The hostel looks great, but sadly shut until April due to flood damage! Thanks for the tips though. Will try it later in the year.

Meadowbank B&B – run by a biker, on edge of town and has parking and cleaning facilities. Should be within budget.
