Place to stay/eat between Oban and L Lomond (good food needed)

Hi all,

A semi on topic request. A few of us are doing a wee bike tour bivvy/tenting it and would like somewhere decent to stay on the final night to eat, drink and take it easy. Depending on the details, this is likely to be between Oban and Loch Lomond area (yes that's a big area, but either way the train is involved either on the last or 2nd last day as some of us have got to get back to Ayr).

Anyway, can anyone recommend somewhere to stay (hotel/bnb...) where there might be a good restaurant (seafood?) nearby, not too expensive, but pretty smart for a nice meal. It's a big area and we are fairly flexible on exact location, so any place you know of that you thought was special would be great. Doesn't need to be in a town- wherever. If there was some nice riding on the doorstep that'd be cool, but it's not 100% necessary.

OK, so nice places to stay, nice places to eat, Oban-Loch Lomond area... someone on here must have something that fits the bill or inspire me with some advice.

Bridge of Orchy hotel is pretty good, have stayed there quite a few times. It's not _quite_ in your area, but if you run up Loch Etive from Taynuilt and through Glen Kinglass to Loch Tulla, you come out at Bridge of Orchy and from there you can pick up the West Highland Way south as far as you want to go - and it's parallel with the railway line.

As far as I know there's nothing decent in Tyndrum or Crianlarich, though coming from East Central Scotland don't really pass through that area much.

Famous for its seafood apparently (I wouldn't know, I'm allergic...)

Also near by is the loch fyne brewery, where you can stroll in, talk to one of the brewers, and pick up a bottle or two to take with you.

Maybe not ideal in terms of timing, being sort of halfway, but you could squeeze it in!

Thanks chaps, I don't know the area that well and will have a look at your suggestions. Bridge of Orchy might work, and I'd kind of thought that Loch Fyne type seafood will be a hit with the others (though I'm not a fan). I'll check out the drovers too. Thanks all, appreciated.

Wee tip for The Drovers, stay in The Lodge, not in the pub itself. Great place though. Possibly the best pub in the world!

I'll second BB's comments. 16th century atmosphere & decor. Simple food but not Michelin Star quality. Excellent Stags Heid broth.
Haven't been for a few years but the Village Inn in Arrochar used to be great on all counts

Loch Fyne OB has good food if you dont mind the slightly 'fish outlet' ambience of the place. Not a huge fan myself

Bridge of Orchy Hotel is good.
