Just tried to change the pads in a Hope Mini Mono and one of the pistons will not fully retact back into the caliper, the pistons are the phenolic ones. I do have access to the tool to remove the bore cap but i don’t think that will help as i still need to push the pison back.

Also it does move out when i press the lever so its not fully seized

Any ideas? or should i send it to Hope for a service

    Thanks in advance

Could be too much brake fluid in the system.

Sounds like it’s twisted in the caliper, although it might just be stuck on the seal. See here for service/overhaul procedure; but given your explanation, I suspect that a seal change is in your future. Take care not to chip the piston, by the way…

Have checked the fluid level and thats ok, the piston is moving but not fully back, stopping with about 3-4mm still out of the caliper. I do have some new seals for a rebuild. Looks like i need to try cleaning it some more

Good news, its now free. Plenty of cleaning with cotton buds and silicone spray did the trick. Bad news, I’ve chipped the piston.3.99 from crc isn’t too bad though
