had to this morning – pedals had frozen solid & couldn’t get in at all
luckily I was well hydrated 😳

Had front wheel puncture and 20mm maxle light was frozen into the forks, was just on verge of resorting to that but carressed it (no the forks and maxle you sick puppies) with bare hands first and it worked. always reluctant to piss on components as I am afraid of fetching off the anodising or rotting seals 😛

Just use flat pedals in winter you mincing numpties. 😉

Just stamped on my SPDs until they let me clip in! Brute force and blind ignorance wins over ice (plus I figured I’d struggle to break anything on my M520s, they seem to be hewn from a single chunk of steel, judging by their weight anyway!).

Had an interesting commute in though, aside from the usual waggling the rear mech every few milesto be able to change gear, my disc brakes froze on and off quite regularly. They are Avid BB5s so I reckon there’s a bit of water in the cables somewhere.

Cyclo crossers use de-icer on pedals and cassettes.
