Anyone ever been smacked in the head by one falling? Sitting around in the woods at the local trails sometimes see a few fall and in all fairness they look like they’d hurt a bit from a fair height!

No but you need to watch out for the squirrels. Evil b*ggers, and many’s the time I’ve turned round to see one holding a pine cone and trying to look nonchalant….

Yeah they fall quite regularly at Woburn!

I picked up a couple in a small wood close to the Ridgeway while was trying to photograph Ravens, and they were a particularly spiny and prickly variety, I’d hate to get one of those in the face, it’d leave quite a mark.

And after your face? Who knows?? Next time it could be a child’s face.

Nope, but the evil wee feckers lie around like nature’s own ball-bearings… 😯

Standing in the queue to pay for another nights camping at Yosemite the girl 2 in front got one a direct hit on the top of her bonce. Absolutely sparko, blood everywhere. I got her campsite which was the last one 😀
