I’m currently building my new bike. I’m faced with a frankly life changing decision: Red bits or Silver bits?

I know white and red look good, as this picture i’ve borrowed from Retrobike shows:

Would polished silver look gash on a white frame?

it breaks the rules of heraldry – so maybe…

White and mostly silver. Silver and black are easy to colour match, (although silver rims seem less available these days), but beware not all reds are as red/pink as each other!

Panic not geometry pedants and stem police of stw, stem is now considerably shorter and says ‘Thomson’ on the side.

    You’d think so, wouldn’t you.

If I could be arsed I’d post a pic of my mostly black bike. The cranks, wheels and forks match each other, as do the bar and seatpost, but none of them match the black anodising of the frame.

But that’s just me being picky…

Silver cranks only here but that’s because I thOught black cranks would scuff and look rubbish….

black matt and gloss mix looks great. particularly matt frame and gloss components.

I’ve just ordered a very black road bike and even blacker wheels.
