another one ticked off the list. Its a fairly big push up but as it was a nice sunny day i stopped several times to take in the views! great decent, but unfortunately there was a lot of walkers that had the same idea..

The cobbler (or ben arthur to give it its right name) is just about 45min outside glasgow, and the starting point is a place called arrochar. Its just short of a munro in height..

Beautiful pics bringing back lots of memories of me and my dad hiking up there 17 summers ago on a rather similar day.

    Thank you for posting.

    lovely.

That said, it takes a far braver man than me to go anywhere near the cobbler on a sunny saturday afternoon!

Cracking day for a hill. Frustratingly we seem to have all sorts of kids events on every flipping weekend at the moment. If it hadn’t been, we would have seen you up there.

There is some great riding around/near to the cobbler also. I have parked up at Ardgarten before then followed the path that crosses the road and followef it right towards Arrochar/cobbler climb. Then continued past on the fire road that doesn’t lead down succoth eventually coming to a bit where you can turn right and there’s a stoney water pass at the bottom (visible on google satellite view). Follow it all the way and take two right turns so your heading back to Arrochar. Theres some real treat of bomb holes and nice natural bearms ahead just look ahead for walkers. Once you get back to Arrochar either hump it up the road back to Ardgarten or nip up the cobbler path and back down the trail/fire road back. I would class it as a moderate ride, nothing scary its mainly fire roads or trails with mixture of surfaces. Just have a map or gps unit to hand if you’re unsure where your going.
