Our two have out run the bikes, upto 15-20 miles until recently, now nearly ten and they like a 5 miler with me on the SS, one usually ahead on point and just behind/one along side

Fittest dog i ever saw was a Husky that was with 2 Snowboarders in Kaprun.
It ran down the hill after them, occasionally struggling through the off piste and caning it down the piste.
Then when they got to the bottom it either hopped on the chairlift (he had a pass round his neck!) or 1/2 the time ran back up under the chairlift. We saw him carrying on like this for a whole afternoon and the guys were proper shifting it too!

@ Fozzybear & GolfChick..
She's stunning!! Marley is 4 months old now, so we're still having to limit what he does.. He's got a thing for Kong tennis balls as well! although he's not carrying them yet and his bravery around water is 'questionable'!
They're the greatest dogs though aren't they?
sorry everyone else.. but they just are!

Why thankyou mrsflash. He had to be bribed with mini sausages.

yeah Bedds they're definitely the best dogs, hoping when fozzy moves in with me he'll let me have another
shall have to talk nicely to him tho. Not sure on the whole Boxer round water thing, i dont think i've ever met one who will swim. Maddy can swim and Im pretty sure she knows this (fell in canal when she was 1) but she refuses to do so! So much so that the other week one of her squeaky balls landed a bit far in the lake, we spent roughly 20 mins by the shore asking passerbys if their dogs swam whilst maddy was upto her neck in the water 'boxing' the water with her leg trying to beckon it closer to no avail. In the end the currents brought it close enough to hook it to a tree and maddy left it alone long enough to give it chance to do so, she'd already pushed it further out by trying to grab it and missing. Have you ever seen two boxers adult playing? if you're a boxer lover its a must see event!!

does he climb well? Its amazing what they can get up. We had a (now sadly deceased) Collie, German Shepherd cross, that managed to go up Jacks Rake on Pavey Ark - he was really sure footed, been over Striding edge and Sharp edge too, (on a harness and a short scrambling rope) he looked very similar to yours, a lovely dog!Posted 2 years ago # -
Bracken's a 'she' not a 'he', but yes, she's very sure footed and seems to have good depth perception - apparently that's sometimes a problem with dogs.
She's certainly better on rocky ground than she is around water - she has an aversion to getting her lovely white paws wet, although she's better now as she doesn't expect to get carried over streams anymore. She's only just hit 2 years, so this will be the first summer we've had her out for any serious walks.

TheArtistFormerlyKnownAsSTR - how tall is that fence!!!?6ft - but the hound is stood on a load of sleepers holding the back of the rockery up, so probably 4ft.

STR - what breed is your hound? Not entirely sure, as we got him at 4 months old from a shelter, but information from when we got him, coupled with opinions from doggy type people, we've decided he's a Staffy/Boxer cross.

It's such a shame when they can no longer do these sorts of things.
My Lab', Toby, once known as Mad-as-a-brush, who used to love his 8hr epic walks, is now 14yrs old and the muscle wastage 'round his rear-end is awful - it's what will spell The End in due course.
He's now known as Dog-who-poos-in-the-house!Take as may pictures as you can whilst they're still up for the adventure as retirement is not all it's made out to be.

My excellent lab cross Zed. Dumped near our house by someone who just didn't want him anymore.
