I must confess I get quite upset by the poor spelling and grammar I find littered throughout the forums.

Oh, and I don't like getting called "matey". It's well **** IMHO!

GhostRider – 'TLA' isn't actually an acronym, since it doesn't make a word.

If you look at sum of mi other postes TLA makes a wurd…OK end of… GTFSA.

Sorry – Isn't TLA a supposed acronym for 'Three Letter Acronym', when in fact it isn't an acronym, as it's not a word? Or something.

    Three Letter Abbreviation isn't it?

…. An abbreviation such as M.P., which is pronounced em pea, begins with a spoken vowel, and so it is 'an M.P.'

Care to tell us again why 'an mtb' is wrong? mtb = em tee bee

For some reason people on this forum describe something with a damaged thread as "threaded" which makes no sense to me.

You wanna know what I really hate?
What I really hate is all this chat about bikes and ridin' 'em; and the sh!t that goes with it; and this nonsense about emi-/immigrating; and the tits on 'that'; and the merits (or otherwise) of this/that/the other; and the physical attributes of so-and-so; and the creepy shadow over my shoulder; and the bulge in my front tyre; and moderators; AND the compulsive nature of excessive alcohol consumption.

God! I'm so drunk, and completely anal about my spelling/grammar/punctuation; and frightfully middle-class. Please forgive me.

an mtb is wrong as it is the same as saying "an mountain terrain bike" – should be "a mtb"

    eth3er

Most people say mountain bike. Unless you go round saying mtb, which would make you both unique and right :-).

ROLF, wrong. It's the phonetics that dictate if it's a or an. So it's an MTB but a mountain bike.

People who don't say "I've got…." or "my bike is fitted with….", but "I'm running….."

For example, rather than "I've got XT cranks on my bike & they are crap…." peaople write "I'm running XT cranks on my bike & they are crap….."

    "running"??

Though I wouldn't say it actively pisses me off, I have never come even close to rolling on the floor laughing at anything I have seen or read on the internet. No offence, ROFL/ralph/Rob. I am sure your login was chosen in this light.

    "Grinds my gears"
"pissed" in the wrong context. In Britain pissed means that you are drunk. The term you are forelornly searching for is "pissed off", when referring to being annoyed about something.
    Any 'Americanisms'. This is Britain.
"Discuss". **** off, we're not in exam conditions. If you want to start a debate then don't just make a bland statement and add 'discuss' to the end, construct your viewpoint better and put some effort into it.

'what tyre for ****' if you're asking a question like this it's 'which' not 'what'
roadie questions in a mountain bike forum when there's a perfectly good road forum link on the righthand side of every page.

MTB means Multi Terrain Bike (like VTT in French – Velo Toutes Terrains).

But what I detest more than everything is calling a bike "her" or "she".

last I checked the internet was a global thing and STW magazine sold to everywhere. Some of the of the people on here are not based or from the Uk, Gods dammit there may even be some Americans. Unless when you go to American/Estonian/Japanese sites you stop being English/Scottish/Welsh or the other one then I apologise.
If you don't know, STW works under the tenet "you don't have to be from here to be here" I swear I did not make that up, anyways stop trying to fence off STW and it's global participants dude. This is the global system of interconnected computer networks.
