    a spare tube, spare link, a CO2 canister, multitool and a couple of snack bars – does not require a 25 litre back pack.

    They all easily fit in my rear pockets.

    Water in a bottle . . .

    I will occasionally use my small racy camelbak, but my large one is gathering dust

    Further to the “CS mugging” rumour. Bury Council security department have not heard of any incidents either.

    Each to their own I say if people want to wear pads and camelbaks at least they are riding?

    I had my camelbak on today, 34miles by the time I got home so was glad of the water/food etc. Not everyone just rocks up and rides the loop.

    I have done that though and had a camelbak, with firt aid kit, tubes etc, I was leading and I like to be prepared just in case.
