Trying to find a thermostatic injector pump idle sensor and cable or “wax stat” for a lucas mechanical injection pump on a dw8 engine

Short of finding a dealer ( not aberdeen as talking to the dealer here is like trying to convince the tax man you shouldnt be paying tax. ) anywhere else to try when ebay/google doesnt have it.

Anyone know a diesel injection specialist in aberdeenshire ?

Tbh even a part number would help. Book of lies doesnt even acknowledge this parts existance

Yeah , fine if you want an exhaust or a service kit but ultimately ecp are useless for specific parts

You could try GSF then, although your local one of those appears to be Glasgow…

Ebay is usually a good source, and find a specialist and they’ll know.

I work for Peugeot / citroen give me your last 8 of your vin number and ill get the part number tomorrow , from memory they are about £80 +

235 quid for the one for my engine.

I think ill just set it to idle at 1100rpm at all times , itll use a bit more fuel in traffic but i try and avoid it at all costs 🙂 and itll take a while to burn 235 quids worth of fuel by idling 200 rpm higher when warm 🙂

Dw8 fuel pump used to seize the cold start linkage . Have you disconnected the cable and checked its free ? Tbh in years I’ve only seen 2/3 fail !!! Unlucky if so . Get your self an old school choke cable and just use that . Last time I did it for a ” tight ” friend I fitted a 2cv one that was getting binned as old stock . Worked great !!!

Why have you decided that it’s the cold start cable? What’s it doing.

THe cold start cable remains tight no matter what temp

The lever moves freely if i pull on the cable using my third hand tool to create slack

It probably needs a new idle advance solenoid also one issue at a time though haha. Its been fine all summer in the warm weather but now its cold again its reminded me to do something.

What happened was i had alternator failure last year in a pretty spectacular way – diode pack failed and it blew early every bulb in the motor and a couple of relays.

Mine was stuck for years on my 306td. All it does (if I remember correctly) is advance
nce the fuel spray to help with cold starts.
If it starts, then……..

I take it you’ve done your best to free the outer from the inner if it’s corroded? Just like a gear outer.

Indee d thats what it does but its just irritating Me as it lets more fuel in all the time and keeps idle high

As you say starts well and runs fine once warm 🙂

For Citroen anyone can register a username on their citroen service website and look up any parts they need including the price.

Motaquip website is/was always very good for getting hold of part numbers for specific items. Perhaps also worth giving them a shout, as they are or were the Aftermarket Parts specialist for PSA anyway…

I’ve used mister-auto and another one I’ve forgotten if I can get my old hard drive to boot.
