This is the same engine that’s used in Fords too isn’t it?

I have a 2003 (so pardon me if the following is useless!), the rocker gasket is a common issue as is the rear axle being a bit weak and the exhaust being made of tin foil. The comms unit fatigues results in a floppy indicator too which is cheap enough to source as it’s uced in Citroens too.

Generally fine day to day. Sheffield to Brighton and back is about £45 in diesel.

If it’s the DV6 engine; AVOID.

Injector No.3 seal blows (anywhere from 50K onwards) , results in incomplete combustion, oil sludges, lunches turbo.

Change seal, change turbo and REPEAT.

The ford fix for this is to strip the engine/turbo lube system, replace most of the thin pipes and gauze filters and flush repeatedly with clean oil. Even then its no guarantee.
