The smell of laundry fresh from the line.

Finding a really good new patch of ripe brambles to pick.

The fact that some graffiti artiste saw fit to tag his name on the dog poo bin near the field up the road.

Fail blog always cheers me up.

Remebering my re-usable carrier bags, so when the cashier says 'Do you need a bag?' I can say 'no its o.k I bought my own' and smile happily hoping that I'm doing something to reverse the train wreck that is global warming.

    my two new chickens:

(sorry for bad pic). Pretty insignificant in the grand scheme of things but utterly hilarious to watch.

Oh, and the moonlit ride to the station this morning that included cycling past a barnowl which sat at the side of the road and watched me cycle past without as much as blinking…

making a cup of tea, getting distracted, and then coming back to it to find that not only hasn't it gone cold, it's actually now at the perfect drinking temperature.

One i haven't had for ages now, since i retired from the game in fact but…. spending a hot summer afternoon in the field at cricket, the fizzy sensation on your tongue of a pint of lager shandy that is waiting for you once you get these last 2 wickets.

Climbing into bed to find that MrsV has adopted the perfect shape to spoon up to, and then not getting protesting noises that you've woken her up 😉

British anything, because I still think its the best country on the planet, anyone who dissagree's with me can fek off abroad and complain about our imigration/the NHS/schools/police from a safe, distance. In fact this may improve the country by getting rid of the daily mail too.

And how, prey tell, is RIDING A BIKE a petty, insignificant thing???!

That Fruitshoot advert makes me smile. Is it real or CGI?

    Hardly insignificant!

Well yes, very true. Perhaps I should have elaborated – any small thing either of my twins do right now (at 13 weeks I see them do new things every time I am near them).

A perfect spinnaker set, gybe or peel. Packing a spinnaker away 'just like that' with no hassles or annoying twists.

Fixing something right the first time with no appreciable effort.

Making a brace of perfect espressos.

The sound of cleats clicking into SPDs.

    Manualling

Riding more than two berms smoothly in succession.

    Fade jumps.

    Early morning mist.

An unexpected smile from a complete stranger can really cheer me up!!

And chatting to friendly people. We were at Lee Quarry at the weekend and at the end of the race chatted to a few poeple we've seen at Meridas over the years. WHAT LOVELY PEOPLE MOST MOUNTAIN BIKERS ARE!!!
