  • Peleton/Zwift on a spinning bike or fixed gear?

Trying to figure out my cheapest option for training through the winter – I’m overseas so don’t have access to my usual road bike+trainer. What are the downsides of using a cheap spinning bike, or a fixie on a trainer, with Peleton and Zwift? I recognize Peleton is probably best with a spinning bike anyway – what about Zwift? Is a spinning bike or a fixed gear preferable, in other’s experience?

To use Zwift, you need a speed/cadence sensor to connect to your PC by Bluetooth/Ant+, or ideally a power meter.

I doubt you’d be able to bodge a spinning bike to use with it. My mate uses rollers and a speed/cadence sensor without trouble.
