Hello all, I’ve been snooping on here a while and figured it’s about
time I actually joined the forum.

Anyway, first question, I have a 98 Marin Rift Zone with some of those
Shimano Red DX Flat / SPD pedals & shoes / cleats to match from around
the same year. I’ve just bought my self a 08 Orange P7 for those rides
where I don’t need 100mm+ both ends and I need some pedals for it.

Being a tight fisted Yorkshire man I need a set that will work with the
same cleats as the old DX so I don’t have to fork out for another set of
    shoes too.

Is this possible or have Shimano changed their cleat designs in the last
10/11 years meaning I’ll need a different set of shoes for each bike?

    Cheers

    stop worrying !

pedals come with cleats, so unless your shoes are horribly rusted you can just put the new cleats on them

the old cleats will still work with the new pedals, although the new ones release more easily – slight change to the design

Merlin have shimano spds for £20 at the moment – which is unbelievable when you consider that the cleats alone are £10!

hummmm… you might be onto something there. was scouting ebay for some but they are all coming out round the same price for second hand.

    cheers for the heads up

No problem…..I need some new cleats and am thinking it’s probably worth spending an extra tenner and getting a spare set of pedals as well!
