    PAYE reference

Is this number the same wherever you work?

I changed jobs in Dec. Does that mean I now have a different PAYE reference or will it still be the same?

it changes but it’s irrelevant. HMRC uses national insurance number, if you need to contact them thats all you need.

employer reference? HMRC don’t record a employee ‘paye’ reference as far as I know on the PAYE system, they record a works number which is a unique identifier that your company would assign to you?

PAYE reference is the reference of your employers PAYE scheme, so would change when you change jobs.

Student Loans company will want this so they can put correct reference on correspondence with your employer.

Might be on your payslip – otherwise just ask your payroll department. Should be easy enough to find out. Should be three digit number, forward slash followed by letters numbers and numbers.
