    Ok the thread below re: broken cranks, has got me worried: I have some HTII cranks that I estimate must be about 7 or 8 years old. The surface has been polished smooth on the driveside and there are some small pot marks as well.

    Do these parts have a finite lifespan (catastrophic failures due to crashed aside)?

    One of my bikes has cranks from 1991. Dunno.
