Had a letter saying my car was parked down on Holloway Road in London, when it was sat on my drive in Wolverhampton?

    anyone else had something similar?

I think a few on here have, and it’s not uncommon, it seems.
    Ignore it.

Report them to the police – or get a solicitor onto them for threats?

But the car was parked on the op’s drive, not where this company claims it was. I’d report it to the police.

Apart from anything else, it’s illegal for a private company to issue fines.

Definitely mention it – chances are that it’s a scam, but you could be in for a world of pain if someone has ‘invented’ a number plate to use another car for shady dealings and that combo of letters and numbers happens to be yours!

These parasites usually latch on to a real plate number.

Might be worth informing the police in case your plate has been cloned?

That thread is from 2009; the law’s changed since then.

And the pertinent question isn’t about whether to avoid them per se, it’s whether to avoid them when they’re clearly not even related to the OP’s car!
