   OK so I parked in the bit of gravel wasteland round the back of my mates flat in Manchester. I paid the £2.00 all day charge but for one reason or other the ticket wasn't in the window.

   I've been issued a "parking charge notice" NOT a "parking penalty notice". Since it's the former is it legal? It's works car not mine but I was driving it, should I just ignore it? I watched the watchdog video below...

   Or is it just worth paying the £35 to get rid of any potential hassle with work?

   Unless it's issued by the council (or someone working on their behalf) or the police, it's non-enforcable.

   The problem you might face though is that work will just pay it and then bill you, so you might not have a lot of say in the matter unfortunately.

   what he said ...they would not be able to enforce it but this will depend on the view of your employer

   Ask them and then pay if they wont ignore the letters

   If its your car just ignore them as they cant prove who was driving anyway

   This is what i'm thinking... just pay it, it's £35 but if i kick up a stink it's just gonna go up and work will eventually just pay it to stop the hassle their end and i'll end up with the bill one way or another. I'll want to park there again since it right outside my mates house.

   Lesson learned.

   There are loads of threads/info about PCNs over at the MSE forums. Basically they are not enforceable but they will continue to harass you. If you don't intend to pay the best advice is not to make ANY contact with whoever issued it, not even to deny/contest, as this just confirms they've found a viable target.

   Its very easy to blow the paper slip off the dashboard by the wind created as you close the door.

   I reckon any advice on the legality of that type of parking "invoice" is a bit irrelevant in this case due to it being a work car.

   I would just pay the £35 and have done with it, saves any potential hassle at work.

   I would hate paying it as technically you don't have to, but in this case it's the best way to deal with it I reckon.

   if your company leases the cars through a third party then it could be even harder to not pay and even worse they may pass an admin fee back to your company who may in turn pass it to you..
   also it could take some time before you/your company even get advised about it..

    give me £35 now please, you shouldn't be in this part of the forum so I want money off you.

    Thats what the PPC have done to you. You paid for parking end of.

    If its a company car, next time "appeal" the ticket so all correspondence comes to you, then ignore it. They will not hassle the Registered keepers just the driver. The contract is with the driver, not the RK.

    There is no appeal process but it takes the lease company out the loop

    Nothing will happen. You get a chain of letters then they stop.

    Martyn, you're right, i'll be sending in the ticket as proof in the outside chance of a refund. If it was my car i'd be telling them to "foxtrot oscar" but it's not, I didn't really want the fuss with work and i'll have to park there again since it's the only place near my mates.
