Again consumer ethics wins at persuading a major company to withdraw a promotion in a newspaper read by some people.

Probably a good time to support that retail chain in the run up to Christmas.

The apology has upset Piers Morgan
Therefore This is a Good Thing, obviously

Consumer ethics, or a bullying campaign?

No big fan of the DM by any account by the way.

If we’re all for free speech then it works both ways, not just allowing the things you agree on. The campaign needs to maybe work in a less in your face manner, maybe. Not going to get a decent discussion going, just going to get the usual scaremongering from both sides.

But as above, if Piers is upset then some good has come out of it.

Free speech but no guaranteed platform to spout frothing, racist drivel.

Seems to me that free speech has worked every way in this case. Who’s not been allowed to say what?

Peculiar one this. I’ve always thought of paperchase as more of a lefty liberal champagne socialist sort of shop – maybe they were just trying to widen their customer base.

Not if it’s spreading hate it’s not.

Stop Funding Hate campaign group were behind this one, they were behind the lego one too.

Its no limitation of free speech. the daily heil can go out spouting its drivel. Its just people asking advertisers to withdraw their advertising or the product being advertised will be tainted by association

Promoting their new Nazi range in time for Christmas via the Daily Heil 😉

Papers are constantly trying to fired their opinion on the public.

Nice to see that it can cut both ways

Are the readers tainted by association?

My father in law reads it. He has some interesting opinions which I am occasionally happy to disabuse him of.

Most of the time I like a quiet life though…

My mum buys it because the puzzles are a suitable level for my dad who has Alzheimers. Luckily she hides it in her bag on the way home from the shops.

And you’ve just seen it in action.

    Great innit.

“Freedom of speech is the right to articulate one’s opinions and ideas without fear of government retaliation or censorship“.

As stated in many other places, the right to free speech only means you won’t be persecuted by the State for expressing your opinion. It does not mean anyone has to either listen to or put up with your s–t.

    Good result, in my book.

    Same here.

If he askes me to buy him a copy while I’m at the shop I hide it inside a copy of Razzle or Goat Gimp Quarterly to reduce the embarrassment.

So many people confuse freedom of speech with their self-appointed right to print divisive and hateful bile. There’s a very good reason why Hatey Plopkins has found herself on the receiving end of libel writs, because she’s written stuff that’s patently untrue that was subsequently published by the Daily Heil Heil on Sunday Heil Online.

So long as whatever is published passes the Burke vs Bonham Carter test, then I’m fine with it.

Popular read for Unite members, (last page of the survey report)

“popular read” as in not many unite readers read it for 2 mins, 4 years ago. In fact a far greater percentage didn’t read any paper.

Is this the most pointless minute bit of news of late, yowsers!

Earth calling major Tom, I believe so.
