  • Paint (effectively) the plastics on a saddle?

Not my saddle in this pic but the red is the plastic bit. I bought it cheap secondhand and I like it but it REALLY doesn’t go with the baby blue of my road bike frame so was thinking- can I effectively (without it looking naff) paint the red black?

Would car spray paint work or just look shit? Hobby paint blobby?

Was gonna try the same on mine (albeit less plastic), if you sand it, prime and use a decent paint it may be ok. I was going to airbrush enamel paint.

The only problem is the plastic on the saddle is meant to flex, which will probably lead to any paint cracking/crazing. The above stuff is very good for plastics, tho.

Thing is, once you have spunked £6 on a can of paint, you might as well just buy the baby blue version of your saddle.

Would it be possible to buy the blue saddle, remove the plastic and install it on the existing saddle do you think? Then put the old plastic on the new saddle and sell it on? 😉

How about some adhesive backed vinyl wrap off ebay?
Various colours/patterns are available, and its easily removable when you buy a red frame (I give it a week)…

Give one of these a go then you can also colour in the word ‘charge’.

or just spend £30 on a blue one and sell the red one.

3m di-noc from eBay would be my choice if you can get the saddle apart.

    Just get red bar tape?

Red bar tape on a blue bike? Are you mad 😀

Used ones are selling for about £26 on eBay so it wouldn’t cost you much to change it. That’s the route I’d go, not that I’d have such a hideous saddle on my road bike anyway.

You’ll probably spend the money you’ve saved trying to change the colour and then it’ll look rubbish. It’ll be pretty hard to re-colour all of that in any way that will resist flexing/rubbing/weather and still look good.

Better off selling the red one and getting that blue one.

    and sold 😯

Black/blue in time – cheers Jamie

    Edit…they have brown/blue. That’d look mint. I don’t care about roadbike rules.

    So you keep telling us.

You’re a rebel, no doubt about that, Hora. A man living on the edge of society who makes up his own rules and lives his life how he chooses.

What purpose do all the additional plastic bits serve?

They give hora an excuse to spend money on a bike he’s barely ridden?

I think he has, I saw a post earlier about him riding up a hill, on the road, on a bike.

He probably did it while telling everyone who would listen about how he’s not a roadie and how rules aren’t for him because he’s a free-thinking spirit…

And the morph continues at pace.

Hora the “I only ride it, I’m not becoming a Roadie” change into colour coded bling appreciation society Rules follower gathers pace.

He will/you will be shaving your legs next.

    I can see it now..

    “Wot Wax For…” 😆
