So in an effort to save some cash I've started taking in a packed lunch rather than swanning off to Cafe Rouge or whatever at lunchtime.

But I'm already fairly bored with it.

Todays sad offering: a roll with salami, edam, roast beef and mustard. (I'd usually put in some lettuce and/or tomato in there, but we were out).

I know there are some foodies on here, so what's the perfect packed pabulum that I can knock up quickly in the morning?

Must fit in my Thomas the Tank Engine lunchbox and not require anything more advanced than a microwave to reheat it at lunchtime.

Ooh nice. I could just about prepare that fresh, as the only other thing the kitchen has is a kettle.

More or less any combo of meat and/or cheese and/or salad and/or sauce works for me.

Chorizo, spring onion and avocado today.

If I was going to subject myself to instant noodles then I'd go for Blue Dragon Noodles, much tastier than the Pot Noodle filth.

Or go to your local chinese supermarket and get real cup noodles, far tastier than the Blue Dragon filth 😉

Big fan of the smoked mackerel..

    I bet your workmates aren't!

I used to get the microwavable kippers, which were lush, but they stank the place out for the rest of the day 🙂

    Marmite and Dairy lee spread.

On the same sarnie? Sounds revolting. Does it work?
I like the odd bit of Vegemite on buttered toast.

    today:

    Pea curry w/ homemade chapatis
    crisps
    apple x2
    banana
    kitkat

consumed over a couple of hours. Full as a bull.

As a veggie, I'm quite partial to Quorn "ham," rocket and salsa rolls.

I'll just wait for the abuse here now, shall I? (-:

Oh, the other thing is, leftovers. Next time you're making pasta or chilli or whatever for tea(*), make an extra portion, bang it in the fridge and Tupperware it the next morning.

In the absence of a microwave or camping stove, get a food flask. Then, home-made soup for the win.

    (* – "dinner" if you're southern.)

That sounds good. Maybe that's the way to go. Big ass pot of something split over a few days.

    I'd rather eat my mousemat.
