Looks like he had a full and active life of 13 years – heartbreaking it is when you lose them, but you’ll not forget the memories and the joy of getting another. Ours are 9 and 10 – starting to have to think about future plans…

    Thanks all.

It was all a bit sudden. He was diagnosed with cancer last Autumn and was only expected to make it until Christmas really but he stubbornly carried on. Also had arthritic hips and was getting a bit wobbly on one back leg. Suddenly today was unable to get up on his back legs, vet suspected a stroke but because of his age and condition we all felt there was only one course of action…

He was a wonderful, energetic, wilful, stubborn git but he was our energetic, wilful, stubborn git. He had a good life and went out the way he lived – trying to stare me down and tell me who’s boss (the first pic here was his last).

We still have his partner in crime to worry about though…

Sorry to hear your loss. Very sorry indeed.

I lost two Springers a few years ago, never had the heart to replace either 😐

    I feel your pain.

Sad stuff when a friend dies.

Lovely pics, though – I particularly like what I’ll refer to as Howling Surf.

The best cure for post dog blues – is to go and get another. Puppies remind you that life goes on!

    Dogs are awesome.
Losing one is so far from awesome it hurts.

Looks like a cracking hound, and you clearly gave him a cracking life. He’s off chasing the eternal rabbit now, but looks like he had a great life!

So sorry – a dog is such a big part of your life it just breaks your heart to have to say goodbye. Lovely photos of a very handsome chap.
