Discovered whilst doing some maintenance, that the NDS spokes on my rear wheel seem to have lost tension. A couple are worryingly loose! Don’t have a good LBS, I would trust with wheel repairs near where I live. However Currently working in oxford, and as everyone seems to have a bike, there must be a decent LBS.

Which one to check over my wheels please?

Try this one – they were great when I used to live in Oxford.

I’m pleased with the wheel that Bike Zone built me at he end of last year. They’re on St Michael Street so pretty central

Ubyk on Abingdon road opened last week. They have a decent amount of nice kit and the owner seems pretty switched on.

the best place for MTB stuff is Beeline on Cowley Road, and Bike Zone in the centre seems good, but I don’t have experience of either for repairs. My LBS for the last 15 years has been Warlands on Botley Road, just out of town past the station. It’s a very good traditional bike shop catering mostly to regular commuter cyclists. Andy, one of the owners, is a top notch wheel builder, and they have always done excellent work at a good price – highly recommended.

These guys are great, they are always really helpful.
I was chatting to Tom about finishing off my bike build, (of which none of the parts were from them) and I needed some headset spacers and wasn’t sure how many. He gave me a handful, told me to use what I needed, come back to pay later, which I did the following week. Whenever I need anything now, as long as its close to Internet price I will try to buy from them.
They also have time to talk about different options and set ups.
Tom has also offered to lend me a reverb to try.
Beeline are great, but don’t seem to have the same enthusiasm, mind you, they are always so busy they don’t have the time I guess.
These are the two shops I would try.

Spot on advice from jkomo, cyclecentre is my first port of call, beeline after that.

Second that jkomo and neiloxford – The Cycle Centre in Walton Street were ace. They swapped over parts to my new Bfe frame, and did an excellent job. highly recommended.
