    Reading the book too. Although it is premised on a simplification of the functions of the physical parts of the brain, isn’t it essentially similar the psychological concept of an Ego and an Id?

    That’s how I understood it.

    Seems like mindfulness repackaged to me.

    But you could think of it like that too, I’m sure.

    Ways of thinking about the human mind tend to have a lot of overlap, by necessity.

    Tried to read the mind paradox book but found it terribly repetitive at the start and put it down.

    Is it useful to persevere?

    Chimp part of your brain works five times faster than the human part. Chimp and human parts have different priorities. You can only manage the chimp not suppress it.

    sometimes it’s good to have a bit of a strop about things, then when you’ve finished stropping then you can set about sorting out what it was that made you have a strop in the first place. Whereas being stroppy won’t generally resolve the issue.

    On the other hand, sometimes it doesn’t help to have a strop and you need to not have a strop and instead engage the human thought process instead.

    But the important bit is that it’s perfectly normal to feel like you want to have a strop, it’s knowing when to and when not to.
