They’ve burnt Scargill, Thatcher,Kinnock, Blair, Clinton, Cameron and Clegg as well as Sadam Huseein etc. I really don’t see why a pirotechnic effigy of a public figure is anymore than light entertainment.

I went as a child and the event was always fun with no real malice. The Protestant martyrs that were burnt do have historical significance and in my opinion it is only historical. I’ve shouted burn the Pope and No Popery but no actually means it.

This is a great advertisement for the event. I really wish I’d been there. Will have to mark it down for 2015
