A quick random plea for help here.

My dad had his pickup and trailer nicked from outside where he was working today in Malvern Wells.

It’s a mid grey Ford Ranger Thunder & Ifor Williams GD105 flatbed trailer that look a bit like this.

The trailer had Greenacre Garden Services stickers on the side and the pickup had “The Landscaper” in a Rossi style font in the windows on the load bay cover (or whatever those things are called)

Frustratingly he’d just had his lunch in the truck with the radio on and forgot to take his keys out so the scrotes had a real easy time of it and he may end up not getting anything out of the insurance so any help would be greatly appreciated.

If anyone has any info or even any good ideas of how these things work or where to look it would be awesome.

    Cheers

    Gary

I’ll keep an eye out round here gary (Welland, Castlemorton etc) and Im on the road to Ledbury early tomorrow morning too.
Im sure Ive seen your dads livery around before. Sorry to hear he’s had a bummer. Have you had a look down Elgar Avenue? (casting aspersions perfectly allowable in the circumstances I reckon 😉 )

Thanks Stoner – he’s around a lot so I don’t doubt you’ve seen him in the vicinity. We used to live in Welland and he’s a few clients out that way. He’s understandably gutted and is kicking himself as you can imagine for being so daft but he is getting on a bit these days so it’s almost forgivable. Unfortunately thieves aren’t particularly charitable.

Any ideas how they’d get them out? Do they load them in containers as it was reported stolen immediately so you’d imagine if these things were linked up they’d not be allowed to get out the country if they “fit a description”. Or is that naive?

    Hmmm wasn’t Stoner coveting a trailer recently….

Knowing the area and what isn’t too far away it wouldn’t surprise me if one if the caravan dwelling community had something to do with it.

Was obviously my first thought Boz – where in particular are you referring to? Might be worth a drive by.

Down towards Cheltenham and also Throckmorton are known sites but our friendly home repair specialists are known to work around more affluent areas of the Malvern. However its probably not a good idea to visit the actual sites, but a drive by the vicinity early morning might be worth it.
If its not them then as already suggested its on its way to somewhere east of Germany by now, would be my guess.

    That sucks b*lls!

I hope he gets it back.

Chelt is a bad area for all sorts but I don’t know of any particular tarmac driveway specialists camps in the area. Any clues? I live in Chelt so a little drive that way may be in order this morning.

I’ve out a link to this on Arbtalk. Some of the tree wranglers may come across it.

That would take some hefty stones to list on eBay so soon.

Earlier model of Ranger, definitely not the OPs.

You didn’t tell the insurance company that the keys were in it did you?!

Re they keys, if the insurance get involved they will ask for the keys and you’ll have to account for any missing ones.

Correct an older model and the trailer has too much kit with it and not enough wheels – good spot though. Thanks for all you help.

Err yes I’m afraid the first thing my dad did was fess up that he’d left his keys in there. He’s far too honest and trusting I’m afraid.
I went up to see him there on Friday and he was parked along the Wells road immediately above the property he was working at but he was in the garden below the path, frustratingly just behind a gate that opens onto the path but it is full height and you couldn’t see over. All it needed was a couple of minutes of intention and it was gone.

We do have a new lead that indicates it could be in the forest and even have a reg number to go on but I can’t say any more right now as it could jeopardize things.

Ok being as we appear to have got nowhere so far with the police, can anyone help with ideas. We have a positive identification of a vehicle belonging to a “gypsy” from a nearby location who was offering for sale a “hot” trailer fitting the description of my dad’s on the day following the theft. Unfortunately that doesn’t appear to be enough for the Police to go and search his home/compound. Anyone know of a way to convince them they ought to follow this up?

It’s really difficult ground you’re on Gary, unless you can raise a posse. 😉

Can you do any intelligence work for the police? Photos etc?

Tell the Police you’re on the way there with 20 of your friends to get it. Tell them you won’t be leaving without it.

Dad & my brother went for a drive over the forest on Sunday afternoon but as they aren’t able to get the vehicle owner’s exact address from the vehicle reg (I assume only the authorities have access) they were reduced to asking at pubs about possible locations. They discovered some camps down a track with large barns which could hold a large amount of stuff but couldn’t get close enough to see anything. It needs a search warrant issuing and the law going in really.

Unfortunately I don’t know anyone who would be willing to go in en-masse for fear of the consequences. Dad certainly wouldn’t as his business cards were in the truck and he could easily be traced and some misplaced revenge sought.

As I understand these people aren’t adverse to such stuff.
