    just fitted a vanilla rc. Miles better than the shite manitou air shock that was in there. It’s transformed the bike

    From? I needed a new shock. I prefer coil, I bought one and fitted it. Slighty heavier but well worth it.

    just wondered if the bike was designed to take either. what sort of riding are you doing ?

    I recently had my rp23 pushed . But im thinking of getting a van r for my next alpine trip.

    I’m sure a decent air shock would have worked too, but I picked up a pushed vanilla rc up for £60.

    I ride slowly up and fast down.

    yours have the maxle swing arm ?

    No. It’s an older one but running a 10mm bolt up axle

    The 5 came in a “HC” guise which had a manitou coil swinger 4 fitted as standard – so yes, they take either.

    At the end of the day its a shock like any other that weighs a bit more.
