Ok my beloved Airbourne Black Widow of 4 years(bought 2nd hand)has developed a crack in a bizarre place, the frame is not creaking and only noticed as I was cleaning it.
Just lately I have been taken it above and beyond its and mines comfort zone(lots of rocky stff) in the Lakes getting some miles in before keilder.
So need a bit of info it what I can do with it planning on riding it for the forceable future ie keider in a couple of weeks(will take a couple of zip ties with me).
If it can be welded whereabouts in the North West(Lakes)would you recommend.
This frame owes me nothing and would quite happily have another Airbourne/Van Nic 😀 but deep down I,m 😥

Rewelded by Enigma? Would have thought an easy repair. Would not ride again until fixed, just so not to damage the other parts of the bridge. Do do have other bikes you can ride yes?

Probably not exactly a “flex plate” being that thick, more a nice frame feature. And its welded at either end so why not. Nice frame mind, shame to trash it further.

Postie, for many years I had litespeed pisgahs which I bought from Alf Jones cycles in wrexham North Wales. The guys there are very very knowledgeable about ti frames. Maybe worth giving andy or gaz a ring for some advice.

Postie R, just up the road from you on the way to Windermere heading N out of Kendal where the dual carriageway comes down the hill to the roundabout, there is a farm and a house on the right. The house is called Bannel Cottage… A guy I have a lot of time for as an engineer lives there, called John McGrath. He works on microlights and stuff, he may be able to do it for you or have an opinion..

If the car is outside, pop in and mention Rick Harrison..

That repair looked well dodgy. Needed some electrical tape round the crack.
