weight not a real priority – width will be!

no direct comparison but after asking about Ragley Luxy was offered some Woodchippers for £22 by my LBS so went for them, first ride today real fun, love the width, and shallower drop compared to the bars they replaced. The hoods position is nice too. Mine are 46cm size.

I think the width is much of a muchness, but the Woodchippers and Luxys have a much longer drop section than Midges. I have Midges on the more burly CX bike and sometimes it feels like your hands are about to slip off the bottom of them on the really rough stuff. The hoods position is a bit odd too but I’ve got used to it.

    I’ve had both.
    Much prefer the woodchippers.
Midges are too short on the end of the drops.

I’ve only seen midges but ride chippers.

Wot my esteemed wooden and bike hanging pals above said. Also midges looked like the stis/levers would flare out so much you couldn’t ride on the hoods, but then I am a roadie.

Another Chipper fan. No experience of Midges with which to compare though. I bought them for off-roading but I’ve left them fitted for touring as they are so comfy and useful.

    And being used properly 😉

Seriously the flare f the drops helps riding off road a lot IMO.

Another woodchipper fan here. Set up is 1×10, 11-36 using an SLX mech with 105 levers and Avid BB7’s. Love it!

A 9-speed XTR mech will work fine. Check cage length against your range of gears though.
