Looking for a decent value frame, steel or Al. The InBred is a bit of a tank weight-wise, other than that it looks pretty good for long-haul bikepacking purposes.

Budget up to £350 for something that knocks a pound or two off, but cheaper is better.

Just to throw you a challenge, ideally it must have rack eyelets…

    Any other suggestions? Ta

Don’t notice the weight on my Inbred 29er SS. Bike & Kit for an overnighter was 44lb all in.

Scandal? Mine was the old 26er but weirdly it felt more like that stereotypical “steel feel” thing than an actual steel Inbred does. Lovely frame.

Thanks Johnnystorm. Out of interest, what’s your height and frame size and how do you get on with it fit-wise?

    NW – Can’t seem to find a 29er version?

Have you seen the new on one park wood frame? Only two hundred quid, aluminium and looks like an awesome trail smasher.

I had a on one race, which is the lighter version of the lurcher and that thing was awesome and because its carbon very light indeed, on one have them on offer for 280 at the moment.

Oh, and forget fitting a rack. I started off with one and a decent seat pack is much better.

Cheers for the kit breakdown johnnystorm. Much appreciated!!!

I’ve been a bit old school with my approach to touring up until now and been quite happy with panniers. But having seen what’s available on the Alpkit website for very reasonable amounts of dosh, I’m being swayed towards the seat/frame pack approach…

Which of course opens up a whole new avenue of frame options such as Singular and Cotic. So a comfy 29er is what I’m after now. Balls… that has just opened up even more potential research.

Suggestions still very much welcome 😉

I had a swift before my inbred. The ebb is less faff than the inbred with a chain tug but other than that I wouldn’t say it was 3x better considering the price difference. You’ve also got the Salsa El Mariachi which has SS friendly dropouts but again far pricier than the inbred.

Have a look at Wildcat gear as well.
