Sadly they’re catching on with the plebs. Can’t have that, so I go from bar to bar surreptitiously misting them with Fairy liquid.

I always hated olives. Until Mrs Daz was pregnant and I got some weird craving for them. Loved them ever since.

Apart from olive bread, for some reason I like olive bread.

Mushrooms? Ok in small quantities but there’s something sinister about fungi, the way they brood silently and unmoving in the woods.

Erm. Don’t we get Spanish/Greek olives here?. Or are they some weird Scottish grown ones?

Or is it a bit like the wine you loved around the Mediterranean and tastes manky back home? 🙂

ps maybe it’s that the ones over there generally still have the seeds in or are cured differently? Dunno, just know I can eat them by the bucketload! 😆

There are dozens of olive varieties, we farm arbequina olives which are relatively small and sharp tasting. They are much loved around Cataluña but I find them too bitter. They do however make a nice peppery oil which is what ours are processed into. Prices are good this year as they are in short supply due to the dry spring. Our local supermarket sells olives in anchovy oil which are lovely.
