  • Old school Passatists – rear hub abs sensor and cable

The rear hub bearing on my folks Passat died. Luckily I managed to get a replacement from the motor factors this afternoon. I fitted it, but in the process I was unable to remove the abs sensor from the core of the old hub so I cut the supply cable. The ABS warning light is now illuminated on the dash.

Is it possible to get a pattern replacement cable and sensor?

    EDIT it’s a W reg 1.9tdi estate

Sensors yes, cable I doubt it! From memory they just push fit didn’t they? Is there a connector further up the chassis rail that the cut wiring leads to? I am sure there is. Try GSF stock pages on internet or euro parts

I posted this over on a Passat forum, it seems you can buy the sensor and a section of the loom it connects into. It seems it’s also possible to simply connect the two ends of the wire within the loom to extinguish the dash board light. 8)

I wonder how effective ABS is on the rear wheels anyway?
