Saw my step dad at the weekend and he can spin a good yarn. He used to be the man from the Pru so would call on people to collect their premiums and sort problems.
Two of his stand out customers were the man who strangled his wife in his sleep thinking she was a Japanese guard in a p.o.w camp. My step dad then had to sort out the issue of life insurance the now deceased wife. They paid out.
Then there was the undertaker and his wife who lived above their shop.
If a baby died they didn’t like the idea of the baby being alone in the morgue.
So they would bring the little coffin up and sleep with it in their bedroom.
That freaked me out.
