Going to be a few questions from my tonight chaps, building up a bike and will need some help I suspect!

First stop… fitting the forks and for some reason the top bearing cap won't slide down the steerer? And neither will my stem for that matter?

What's the issue here? Normally on other builds I've done, the top cap just slides on down?

    cheers 🙂

Rubber seal on the inside of the top cap? Stem bolts tightened up?

It's a Chris King top cap, and yes it does have an o-ring in there… should I do something with that?

    Stem bolts are loosey goosey…

Is there any burring round the top of the steerer?

If the steerer was cut with a pipe cutter then it's outside diameter may have increased slightly at the top.

doesn't seem to be, looks smooth to me…

it'll be a bit tighter with the seal, so maybe just try pushing a bit harder – once you've done what ssstu suggests.

Pry open the stem with a screwdriver as you slide it on.
