  • Oil change on a pushed fox air shock?

    Hello,

I have a pushed fox RP3 rear shock which I intend to service in time for the spring.

Servicing the air can looks easy and there are a few videos out there on the net showing me how to do it.

However I can't find any info on how to change the oil in the damper, or what weight of oil to use.

Has anyone done this service themselves? Can anyone point me in the direction of further info?

Also, does anyone know if I need different set of seals due to being pushed (the shock came second hand on a bike so I'm not too clued up on what 'being pushed' actually does!)

    Ta

[PS I've done a few searches on Google and here but drew a blank – sorry if this is oft asked!]

Problem with servicing air shocks is the internals are very compact so the rebound rod is easy to break when popping the plug out. Also, push shocks are nitrogen charged so you'll need nitrogen to re-pressurise. Never heard of a successful home fox air shock service.

Although Monachs are home serviceable so im very tempted to sell my rp2 and get one (theres even an official rockshox video on it).

If you find a guide or have a pop yourself plese let us know. mtbr and ridemonkey forums may be of help…
