At the risk of angering the hive..

I’ve been using Bonty Mud X’s for a few years and love them, thing is, I have a 650b coming in a few weeks and Bonty don’t do this tyre in this size.. what are the alternatives for allround fantasticness?

Magic mary.
I ride mudx on my 26 and the magic mary KILLS them in the mud.
2 problems.
weigh a lot.
cost a lot.

Can someone please explain all the differnt rubber coumpounds of Shwalbe?
Trailstar
Pacestar
Vertstar

They then all seem to come in three different types
Snakeskin
Supergravity
Then DH.

Trailstar – medium, good balance of grip and wear
Pacestar – hard, plastic, alright on the rear
Vertstar – soft, supertacky

They’re all multi-compound, iirc, but the above is roughly equivalent if comparing to something like Maxxis tyres.

Snakeskin – reinforced
Supergravity – more reinforced
Then DH – obvious

Like you I’m a long term MudX user.I changed to Hutchinson Toro’s to offset some of the sidewall collapse I got on the rear Bonty’s when crashing through rocks.
So far so good. Faster tyre but not quite the grip.

Brilliant.. cheers for the input.. just found out thr bike is here.. 4 weeks early so will need to order now!
