I used to have a XJ550,only bike I’ve had from new & somehow the only bike I’ve never fell off.
Here’s my ‘old skool’ trailie thumper xt600 mid-eighties square styling,I prefer the lines of the earlier XT500 but everyone likes the 600 beast.
I also like my FZ750,sadly on a sorn at the moment..

Favourite Brit bike is a 69 export Bonnie, lovely looking bike!

Actually had one of these back in my yoof (’92 – God I feel old) happy memories of teararsing around the South Lakes in Cumbria. Perfect roads for this type of bike

As much as I liked the Ducati 916, I’d much rather have one of these :

Spent a good few seasons (and most of my wages) club racing one of these in the 90s. Sublime.

And I also had its big ugly sister.

    neither pics are mine.

edit, crossed posts with bjj andy… great minds etc. Also in S.Lakes, something about the roads maybe?!

Had one of these for many years, although not in quite such good and original condition after Brighton seafront had its effect. Eventually had to let it go.

@ Bob summers – happy memories for both of us I’m sure. When I was out on it I embarrassed quite a few 1100 gixers and FZR exups, they were far to big and unwieldy. It was as if the roads were made for little 250 strokers 😀
As for the RG500, what an engine !

I’ve only ever been on a motorbike twice, both times as passenger so it has to be these.

    I had a Black RD250LC when I was 20 – yikes!

…and I have always wanted, but could never afford, the RD500LC like this…

In the mid eighties I production raced a 250LC,never won any cups but I launched it on more than one occasion..
I also put it back on the road & rode to circuit Paul Ricard for the Bol D’or one time, did a few laps of the circuit on the monday after the race! 😆

Had an RGV250 here too. Got a bit carried away with it and ended up with 75bhp @ the rear wheel. Modified RS250 engine, Nikkon GP pipes and would only run on high octane fuel. Perfect bike for blasting round the lanes and hills where I live.I miss that bike…damn kids 🙁
This, when it was realeased 23 years ago, made my jaw drop:

Never owned a motor bike, but when you’re 15-16 and your mates all have mopeds, you spend your time reading MCN. I remember when the Honda CBX was released, and it was so much more of everything that it has to be my favourite bike from years ago.

When I was a kid, this is what I though the future looked like….

I don’t think the future has aged well.

My first bike, in 1990, was one of these, keep half an eye out for one nowadays

I would love a proper old flat tank bike but suspect I am too mechanically inept 🙂 so just got a bantam as proper old bike (although for a variety of reasons it’s hardly been used this year)

Not my photos, I never had one, but think they were fantastic:

(I’d never be brave enough to try and ride one around a corner.)

I’m usually a ‘newer the better’ guy, but I wouldn’t kick an RC45 out of bed!
